In this role, he oversees all media relations as well as internal communications for CMT, managing publicity teams in both Los Angeles and Nashville, where he divides his time. He also directs the publicity campaigns for CMT’s original series, documentaries and tent-pole events including “CMT Music Awards,” “Nashville,” “Still The King” and “Sun Records” Additionally, Patat is responsible for helping shape and implement consumer, business and trade press strategies in support of broader brand and Viacom Global Entertainment Group priorities.
Patat is a seasoned executive with more than 15 years of experience in media communications. Before joining CMT, he served as Vice President of Communications for MTV. In this role, he led publicity efforts for all multiplatform and music initiatives, including for “MTV Video Music Awards,” “MTV Movie Awards,” “ MTV Unplugged,” and “House of Style,” as well as the launches of MTV and VH1’s programing and music apps. Starting in 2014, he added responsibility for Logo, where he managed all communications, including the launch of the inaugural “Trailblazers” event, Emmy-winning “Laverne Cox Presents: The T Word,” and “RuPaul’s Drag Race”. Prior to joining MTV in 2010, Kurt directed media relations for AOL’s consumer sites, including “Moviefone,” “AOL Music,” and “AOL Television.”
A native of Chattanooga, TN, he received his B.A. in Communication and Media Studies from Fordham University.
