NASHVILLE – September 20, 2006 – Capitol Nashville and CMT have announced that the critically-acclaimed CMT documentary special, AMERICAN REVOLUTIONS: THE HIGHWAYMEN will be available for sale on DVD at CMT.com and at major retailers across the country on Tuesday, September 26. The original one-hour documentary, AMERICAN REVOLUTIONS: THE HIGHWAYMEN, premiered on CMT in 2005 and features rare footage of Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson and Kris Kristofferson at the Highwaymen’s final recording sessions in 1994. Shot by Don Was, producer of the Highwaymen’s “The Road Goes on Forever,” the documentary provides a revealing and oftentimes intimate, behind-the-scenes view of these country music icons.

The DVD will include the documentary special, AMERICAN REVOLUTIONS: THE HIGHWAYMEN, as well as 30-minutes of never-before-seen segments from Was’ original interviews and new interviews conducted by Tremolo Productions for the special that include Kris Kristofferson, Jessi Colter and Shooter Jennings. The DVD will also contain the music video for the previously unreleased, "If He Came Back Again" that appears on the Highwaymen’s last CD, The Road Goes on Forever.

In promotion of the DVD on-sale, the special will begin re-airing on CMT on Monday, September 25 at 10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT with additional re-airs in October. The DVD is currently available for pre-order at CMT.com for $14.69 and will retail for $19.99 at major retailers across the U.S.

AMERICAN REVOLUTIONS: THE HIGHWAYMEN gives a rare glimpse into the personalities of these country superstars, peeling away their “outlaw” personas while revealing that behind their tough guy images, Cash, Jennings, Nelson and Kristofferson were just four men struggling with their own demons, creativity and mortality. AMERICAN REVOLUTIONS: THE HIGHWAYMEN features archival footage of the recording sessions, the group’s meeting with legend Gene Autry and exclusive new interviews from Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson, Jessi Colter, Shooter Jennings, Don Was, John Carter Cash, Rodney Crowell, Billy Joe Shaver, Lou Robin and Cowboy Jack Clement. The one-hour documentary was produced by Morgan Neville with Tremolo Productions, Inc. for CMT. Lewis Bogach served as executive in charge of production for CMT.
