NASHVILLE – October 12, 2011 – Football season has officially kicked-off and America’s hottest cheerleaders are back, donning their iconic blue and white star-spangled uniforms, when the sixth season of DALLAS COWBOYS CHEERLEADERS: MAKING THE TEAM premieres Thursday, October 20 at 10:00 – 11:00 p.m., ET/PT on CMT. This season the series has been expanded to feature eight one-hour episodes, allowing for deeper story lines, more dance routines and more drama as the hit series follows the girls throughout auditions, training camp and their first performance at Cowboys Stadium.

DCC director Kelli McGonagill Finglass, choreographer Judy Trammell and fitness trainer Jay Johnson also return this season, determining who will make the squad and suit up in one of the most recognized uniforms in all of professional sports. With a large number of veterans retiring, the opportunity for rookies to land a spot on this year’s team is as promising as ever, but the competition is just as fierce. The cheerleading hopefuls, some new to try-outs, some returning and some traveling all the way from Australia, Japan and Vietnam, will have to prove themselves to the coaches and to each other as they fight for one of the coveted positions.

Season 6 premieres with hundreds of candidates arriving for preliminary auditions. After the initial cut, 122 young ladies are invited to compete at semi-finals the following weekend. This second round proves to be a struggle for a majority of the candidates, as they attempt to learn a powerful DCC dance routine and the signature kick-line routine. The auditions close with 69 girls called back to final auditions – making it one step closer to Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders training camp.

Cameras follow the rookies as they settle down in Dallas for training camp and attempt to manage their hectic schedules – from figuring out living arrangements and choosing roommates, to attending mandatory seminars arranged by the DCC staff. In one episode, after discovering a couple of rookies have posted racy photos of themselves on the internet, Kelli holds a social networking seminar to educate the ladies about proper online protocol. The girls realize their behavior both on and off the field is one of many factors that will come into play when deciding who gets the privilege of MAKING THE TEAM for the 2011-2012 season and cheering in front of thousands of fans.

DALLAS COWBOYS CHEERLEADERS: MAKING THE TEAM is produced by Triage Entertainment with executive producers Stu Schreiberg, Stephen Kroopnick, Eugene Pack, Jeff Cvengros and Kelli McGonagill Finglass. Melanie Moreau and Jayson Dinsmore are executive producers for CMT.
