CMT CELEBRATES THE GROUNDBREAKING CAREER OF COUNTRY MUSIC LEGEND GARTH BROOKS IN “GARTH BROOKS GREATEST CONCERT MOMENTS”
PREMIERING SATURDAY, OCTOBER 21

NASHVILLE – October 18, 2006 – Garth Brooks has enjoyed one of the most successful country music careers in history. The one hour special, GARTH BROOKS GREATEST CONCERT MOMENTS, coinciding with the release of Brooks’ new DVD boxed set, Garth Brooks: The Entertainer, tells the story of country music in the 1990s through footage from four groundbreaking, live television concert specials: “This Is Garth Brooks” at Reunion Arena in Dallas, “This is Garth Brooks Too” at Texas Stadium in Dallas, “Live From Dublin” at Croke Park in Dublin, Ireland and “Live From Central Park” in New York City. With exclusive behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with Brooks, Nancy O’Dell (“Access Hollywood”), Rudy Giuliani, Trisha Yearwood, Wade Jessen (Billboard) and more, GARTH BROOKS GREATEST CONCERT MOMENTS premieres Saturday, October 21 at 8:00-9:00 p.m. ET/PT on CMT.
Garth Brooks is a pivotal figure in the history of country music. Brooks’ commercially savvy fusion of post-Merle Haggard country with honky tonk and 1970s arena rock dramatics brought country music a new audience – a mass audience. Before him, it was inconceivable for a country artist to go multi-platinum. However, Brooks walked away from the most successful career in the history of country music when he announced his retirement in 2000. With 26 #1 hit singles, 15 charted albums and over 116 million albums sold in the United States alone, Brooks was breaking records for both sales and concert attendance throughout the 1990s. Brooks has received two Grammy’s, 17 American Music Awards, 11 Country Music Association awards, 18 Academy of Country Music awards, five World Music Awards, 12 People’s Choice Awards, and 36 Billboard Music Awards.
To further celebrate Brooks’ career, CMT will air Brooks’ momentous concert, GARTH BROOKS: LIVE FROM DUBLIN, as well as other Garth Brooks programming:
