CMT CELEBRATES SEVENTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR OF PRIME TIME GROWTH AND THE MOST WATCHED PRIME EVER
NASHVILLE – January 7, 2008 – CMT ushers in the New Year on a high note, with 2007 ranking as the network’s seventh consecutive year of prime time growth among P18-49 and the most watched prime time ever, according to Nielsen Media Research. In addition, CMT continues to appeal to a younger Heartland audience drawing a median viewer age of 38.8. CMT is currently available in more than 87 million American homes, and CMT.com remains the world’s No. 1 online source for country music, streaming over 100 million videos in 2007 alone.
A diverse slate of music and original programming brought record growth for CMT in 2007. The network returned with its annual 2007 CMT MUSIC AWARDS and CMT GIANTS: HANK WILLIAMS JR., along with new episodes of the critically-acclaimed series CMT CROSSROADS. CMT also premiered DALE, the first authorized biography of racing legend Dale Earnhardt, which became the highest rated and most watched telecast in the network’s history with more than 3.1 million total viewers.
CMT continues to introduce innovative new music series in 2008. Nashville hitmaker John Rich uproots seven musical celebrities and moves them to Nashville for a two-week foray into the ins and outs of the country music genre in the new series GONE COUNTRY, premiering Friday, January 25. CMT and FremantleMedia North America, the producers of “American Idol,” will scour the nation in search of the next great country duo when CAN YOU DUET premieres Monday, April 14.
