John Schneider Hosts Two-hour Special Premiering Saturday, May 27 at 8 P.M.

NASHVILLE – May 2, 2006 – From “The Andy Griffith Show” to “My Name is Earl,” country comedy has been a presence on television for decades, whether through the likes of a guitar playing trucker and his pet monkey or an outspoken interior decorator and her ex-beauty queen sister. Taking a look at the most hilarious country comedy shows of all time, CMT pays tribute to the shows and characters that made the country laugh in 20 GREATEST COUNTRY COMEDY SHOWS hosted by John Schneider, premiering Saturday, May 27 at 8:00 – 10:00 p.m., ET/PT.

This two-hour countdown special will feature the shows with beloved characters like Andy and Barney, Granny and Jed, Bo and Luke – names that have become synonymous with simpler times as well as those shows that today, bring the down-home way of life to the small screen. Classic program clips from beloved favorites such as “Hee Haw,” “The Beverly Hillbillies,” and “Green Acres” are combined with new interview segments from those who starred in these popular favorites, along with those who have loved them through the years. The special features interviews with Reba McEntire (“Reba”), Larry the Cable Guy (“Blue Collar TV”), Dixie Carter (“Designing Women”), Vicki Lawrence (“Mama's Family”), Kathy Najimy (“King of the Hill”), Brett Butler (“Grace Under Fire”), Jim Nabors (“Gomer Pyle U.S.M.C.”), Greg Evigan (“B.J.” from “B.J. and the Bear), Tom Lester (Eb from “Green Acres”) and more.
