CMT On Demand Celebrates 887 Percent Growth in 2007

NASHVILLE – February 4, 2008 – On the heels of its most-ordered year ever, CMT On Demand cranks up the music in 2008 with more music videos, performances and original programming than ever before. February marks one year since CMT first began airing full-length music videos on its VOD platform. In 2007, CMT On Demand experienced triple digit growth upwards of 887 percent over 2006, according to Rentrak.

“We couldn’t be happier with the audience’s response to the addition of music videos and performance-based content. Music is the foundation of CMT On Demand and provides fans with a deeper connection to the artists and the music they are passionate about,” said Mary Beth Cunin, vice president of programming strategy, CMT. “While music makes up a majority of the content on CMT On Demand, the platform has also been a great forum for introducing new original series and returning franchises, including DALLAS COWBOYS CHEERLEADERS: MAKING THE TEAM and TRICK MY TRUCK.”

This year, the network plans to increase the number of music videos added to the lineup; and in February, CMT will debut new episodes of GONE COUNTRY weekly, along with the newest episode of CMT CROSSROADS featuring Robert Plant and Alison Krauss. Beginning in March, CMT On Demand will feature special long and short-form music content to support the network’s annual tentpole event, the CMT MUSIC AWARDS, which premieres live April 14. CMT On Demand will continue to feature special artist-centric categories each month, along with hit performance series such as CMT CROSSROADS, and live concert specials like INVITATION ONLY. The channel will also develop exclusive customized Local VOD content for select markets.

CMT is the only country music network in the unique position to deliver country’s biggest artists and world premiere exclusives through CMT On Demand. CMT On Demand is carried on Comcast, Time Warner, Verizon, Charter, Cablevision, Bright House, Insight, Midcontinent and Armstrong Cable.
