CMT GETS READY (AND LOADED) WITH A MULTI-PLATFORM APPROACH FOR THE “2007 CMT MUSIC AWARDS” ON APRIL 16
CMT to Stream Awards Show Live Online at CMT.com and On CMT Radio for Second Year
Fans Get Even Bigger Say with Country Music’s Only Fan-Voted Show with Return of Text Voting and Addition of “Flatt Out Fan Favorite”
NASHVILLE – February 28, 2007 – CMT gives fans more of the music they want with a 360-degree, multi-screen program strategy for the 2007 CMT MUSIC AWARDS, which air live from Nashville on Monday, April 16 at 8:00 p.m., ET.* For the second year in a row the awards will be simulcast live on CMT’s broadband channel Loaded at CMT.com and on CMT Radio, making the broadcast available to nearly 150 CMT radio affiliates. In addition, exclusive content will live on CMT.com, on CMT Mobile and on URGE, MTV Network’s digital music service.
Country music’s only fan-voted awards show lets fans have an even bigger say this year. For the second year in a row, fans can vote live via text message and online at CMT.com to determine Video of the Year. In addition, fans can vote at CMT.com to decide what song multi-platinum act Rascal Flatts will perform as the opening number with the introduction of the “Flatt Out Fan Favorite.”
In conjunction with the annual CMT Awards, CMT.com and its broadband channel CMT Loaded will feature live streaming of the red carpet and the awards show, news, videos, music, streaming radio, photo galleries and more. CMT Loaded will debut an original special, CMT LOADED OUTSIDER, to go where everywhere news normally doesn’t – from stagehands to fans, to cab drivers and generally clueless bystanders.
For fans on the go, CMT Mobile will feature streaming news clips for the entire week leading up to the awards, along with music videos and recent interviews of the nominees and presenters. In addition, CMT Mobile will offer exclusive red carpet coverage with a look at the best – or worst – dressed stars, along with interviews. Additional wireless elements include text voting for the night’s big award, Video of the Year.
In addition, URGE, MTV Networks' digital music service, will feature exclusive editorial content and playlists of each category’s nominees and past winners dating back to the very first CMT Awards. Available for free download at http://www.urge.com, URGE offers over a thousand frequently updated playlists, music feeds, exclusives from MTV, VH1 and CMT, and original editorial and blogs from some of the best minds in music.
MHD: Music High Definition, MTV Networks’ high-definition channel, will also air the 2007 CMT MUSIC AWARDS in HD. CMT will later bow the awards on its digital all-music channel, CMT Pure Country.
CMT’s sixth annual awards show honors country music’s elite for the year’s most outstanding music videos and is the genre’s only fan-voted awards. Hosted by Jeff Foxworthy, the 2007 CMT MUSIC AWARDS will feature performances by Rascal Flatts, Kenny Chesney,
Tim McGraw, Carrie Underwood, Martina McBride, Sugarland and Dierks Bentley, with others soon to be announced. Voting is currently underway at CMT.com to determine the night’s big winners. The final nominees for Video of the Year will be announced at the beginning of the show, and fans can vote at CMT.com as well as via mobile phone throughout the live broadcast (ET/CT only) to determine the final award of the night.
