NASHVILLE – March 21, 2006 – No need to stand in line for tickets, CMT gives viewers a front-row seat to the funniest show around with the premiere of CMT COMEDY CLUB. These half-hour specials feature two of country comedy’s funniest comedians. CMT COMEDY CLUB: JEFF FOXWORTHY and CMT COMEDY CLUB: BILL ENGVALL each debut on Friday, April 7 at 10:00 PM and 10:30 PM, ET/PT respectively.
The Blue Collar comedians are back in these new specials featuring interviews as well as excerpts from their biggest and most hilarious performances, CMT COMEDY CLUB is a fast-paced look at a career in comedy with an emphasis on the funny and no two-drink minimum.
Jeff Foxworthy is one of the most respected and successful comedians in the country and host of the 2006 CMT MUSIC AWARDS. He is the largest selling comedy-recording artist in history, a multiple Grammy Award nominee and best-selling author of more than 15 books. Foxworthy starred in and executive produced the television series, Blue Collar TV, which came about due to the success of Blue Collar Comedy Tour, The Movie and the concert tour of the same name. Blue Collar Comedy Tour, Rides Again, the sequel to the first film, has sold more than three million units since its release in December 2004.
A native of Galveston, Texas, Bill Engvall was working as a disc jockey in Dallas with plans of becoming of a teacher when one evening he decided to try his hand at stand-up comedy. He quickly learned that making people laugh was truly his forte. Since then, he has appeared in many comedy specials on Showtime, A&E and Comedy Central and toured with the Blue Collar Comedy Tour. To date, Engvall has numerous platinum CDs and DVDs under his belt, has topped the Billboard country single charts and even found his way into rotation on CMT with his “Here’s Your Sign” video featuring Travis Tritt. Engvall was also one of the stars of the television series, Blue Collar TV.
