10/12/06

Tickets for the Holiday Extravaganza On Sale October 21 and 28

Nashville, Tennessee (October 12, 2006) -- CMT, America's No. 1 country music network, has partnered with four-time CMA Female Vocalist of the Year, Martina McBride to sponsor the superstar's "Joy of Christmas" tour. The 17 date tour kicks off November 24th at the All-State Arena in Chicago and ends December 22nd at Nassau Coliseum in Long Island. Tickets for the first part of the tour will go on-sale October 21st with remaining shows on sale October 28th.

As part of the sponsorship, CMT.com is awarding two front row tickets and two meet-n-greet passes to a lucky winner on each stop of the tour. The sweepstakes will run from October 23 until November 17. On October 26, Martina will appear on CMT Top 20 and will also give CMT Insider a sneak peak of what to expect from this year's show.

In a one-of-a-kind show "guaranteed to put you in the holiday spirit"(Champaign, IL News-Gazette), the mega-platinum artist is once again preparing to dazzle fans with her glorious soprano. The critically lauded Christmas spectacular, now in its fourth year, is a two-hour multimedia event with elaborate sets, impressive special effects, and a talented cast of actors that complement McBride's powerful voice. The groundbreaking production features seasonal classics, many of which can be found on her platinum-selling White Christmas album. This year, Martina has added "Baby, It's Cold Outside," to the production - newly recorded as a duet for the upcoming Christmas With Dino release.

There's something about hearing a Dean Martin holiday song," says McBride, "You think, 'Ok, it's time to start the season, it's Christmas time.' That's definitely how I feel."

Critics have raved about McBride's Joy of Christmas tour and sellout shows are the norm. As CMT News noted, "It takes a singer of McBride's power and presence to stand out against such commanding visuals, and she does so with aplomb."

Executive producer Bud Schaetzle explains the production, "One minute you're in a quaint village underneath a Christmas tree; the next minute you're in Bethlehem crossing the desert, and the next, you have a World War II, Bob Hope/Bing Crosby vibe. The centerpiece, of course, is McBride and her music."

In Martina's words, "Christmas is such a wonderful time, and I wanted to create a memorable holiday experience for the entire family. By developing a show that incorporates elements of theater, video, special effects and audience interaction, we'll be able to take the audience through every aspect of the Christmas season in a magical, inspiring way."

New stops on the holiday tour include Cleveland, OH (Dec. 2), Cedar Rapids, IA (Dec. 9), Worcester, MA (Dec. 17), Portland, ME (Dec. 19), Manchester, NH (Dec. 20), Washington, D.C. (Dec. 21) and Uniondale, NY (Dec. 22).

Group tickets for The Joy of Christmas are currently available at local outlets; individual tickets go on sale in October. For more information on individual markets, go to cmt.com or martina-mcbride.com
