Programming to Include New Interactive Series “CMT Power Picks,” “CMT Dedicated” and “CMT Music Binge”

NASHVILLE – May 30, 2006 – CMT kicks off its “Summer of Music” with three new interactive series, a host of music specials and live concerts, and a coordinated television, radio, print and online branding campaign. Beginning Tuesday, May 30, CMT launches two new music series, CMT POWER PICKS and CMT MUSIC BINGE, and will debut the multi-screen series CMT DEDICATED in July.
The first in a wave of new programming on CMT this summer, viewers will take control of the network in the new daily music video series CMT POWER PICKS, premiering Tuesday, May 30 at 3-4 p.m. ET/PT. The series pits country’s hottest music videos against each other and lets the fans battle it out to decide which video airs next by casting their votes at CMT.com. To enhance the dual screen experience, CMT.com will host a dedicated microsite featuring nominated videos, live voting results and more.
CMT MUSIC BINGE, premiering Tuesday, May 30 at 7-8 a.m. ET/PT, will showcase the summer’s hottest country music videos and give fans a chance to win cool grub all summer long. The daily music hour will drive viewers back to CMT.com where they can enter to win great music prizes every weekday. Each prize pack includes a custom CMT Epiphone Gibson guitar and the latest music from Julie Roberts, Trent Willmon and many more.
Launching in July, CMT DEDICATED lets viewers dedicate their favorite videos to friends and family on the weekly one-hour series. Video dedications are accepted online at CMT.com, via email, snail mail, phone and video submissions, which could be selected for use on-air or online. Each episode of CMT DEDICATED will include a guest artist, a short feature on one of the week’s entries and a “most dedicated” video segment.
CMT will also showcase the biggest names in country music with more episodes of CMT GREATEST MOMENTS featuring Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash, Alabama, Willie Nelson and more. America’s largest country music network will also bring fans the summer’s biggest country music concerts with live performances, around the clock news coverage on-air and online, and more CMT favorites including IN THE MOMENT and CMT CROSSROADS. In addition to themed music programming, CMT’s Summer of Music focuses its promotional efforts on the fans themselves and delivers a simple message: “We know how you feel.” The campaign launched Memorial Day weekend with the premiere a new multi-spot television image campaign illustrating what it feels like to be love country music. The image campaign will be complimented by various other on-air and online tune-in elements driving fans to dozens of original music programs on CMT.
