CMT TRAVELS THE COUNTRY WITH THE REIGNING MISS AMERICA 2006 JENNIFER BERRY IN “TOTAL ACCESS: MISS AMERICA”
NASHVILLE – December 5, 2006 – Imagine traveling 20,000 miles per month, sleeping in your own bed only six times since January and having only 30 days out of the year to yourself. This is the charmed, whirlwind life of Miss America 2006 Jennifer Berry, who is profiled in CMT’s one-hour special, TOTAL ACCESS: MISS AMERICA, premiering Monday, December 18 at 8:00 p.m., ET/PT. CMT follows Berry on her journey all over the nation while she gives speeches, participates in major sporting events, fundraisers, pageants and various activities in conjunction with the Miss America Organization.
“There were weeks during the year I flew every day and spoke to six states in six days,” said Berry. “Most people don’t realize how demanding this job can be. But, it’s a wonderful experience having a full year devoted to serving the community.”
Since Berry’s platform is building intolerance of drunk driving and underage drinking, CMT accompanies Berry and law enforcement officers in Baltimore where they conduct compliance checks at businesses where teens attempt to buy alcohol. CMT also follows Berry to Orlando where she hosts Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Pageant with ‘NSYNC’s Joey Fatone and then to California as she visits military bases in California touring facilities, giving speeches and meeting the troops.
This special also reveals what Miss America does on her days off as Berry dons a wet suit and takes a surfing lesson with professional surfer and rock star, Donavon Frankenreiter. In one hour, CMT viewers will have greater appreciation for the valuable, hard work being done by Miss America and will have a chance to see the real woman beneath the crown.
Berry also takes viewers behind the scenes at CMT’s taping of PAGEANT SCHOOL: BECOMING MISS AMERICA featuring the upcoming Miss America contestants for 2007.
The new Miss America will be crowned at the Aladdin Resort and Casino in Las Vegas on January 29, 2007 during the pageant that will air live on CMT at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT.
Miss America 2006 Jennifer Berry hails from Tulsa, Oklahoma and is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma. Her platform issue is building intolerance to drunk driving and underage drinking. Her ambition after her reign as Miss America is to obtain a Masters Degree in Education and become an elementary school teacher.
