CMT.COM ANNOUNCES FINAL 64 CONTENDERS FOR USER-GENERATED TALENT SEARCH “MUSIC CITY MADNESS”

Single Elimination/Bracket Style Voting Begins February 13

Winner to Record Episode of CMT’s “Studio 330 Sessions”

NASHVILLE – February 13, 2006 – Like March Madness is to college basketball, CMT launches its own “big dance” of country music. CMT.com announced today the final 64 contenders who will fight their way to stardom in CMT’s first user-generated talent search, MUSIC CITY MADNESS. More than 600 entries representing all ages and styles of country music were received; with musical inspirations ranging from war to Wal-Mart, dirt roads to honky-tonks, and love to love gone bad.

Entries from 27 different states are currently posted at madness.CMT.com. The nationwide talent search offers unsigned artists a chance to reveal original, unpublished music to fans across the country. The winning entrant will receive an all-expenses paid trip to CMT’s Nashville studio to record an episode of STUDIO 330 SESSIONS, CMT Loaded’s original online performance series.

Fans can narrow down the top 64 entrants in a single elimination competition online over the next two weeks. On Tuesday, February 27, the brackets will narrow and only 32 contenders will be left to battle for votes. New brackets will be posted weekly afterwards, until the winner is announced on Tuesday, April 3. CMT developed a custom interactive site utilizing embedded video, where fans can view head-to-head matches onscreen simultaneously and share videos with their friends.
