CMT's PROGRAMMING HIGHLIGHTS FOR 1/21-1/27

01/15/08

Programming Highlights January 21—27, 2008

GONE COUNTRY (episode 1) - SERIES PREMIERE!
Known for pushing the limits of mainstream country music with the genre-bending MuzikMafia, John Rich, of the hit country duo Big & Rich, takes on his biggest challenge yet, taking seven established performers from every realm of the entertainment and music industries and immersing them in all things country for a chance to break out as the next big country superstar. The one who is most successful at crossing-over by the end of the series, will have a country single produced by Rich. GONE COUNTRY opens with a tour bus scouring Nashville to pick up the seven cast members at different “Music City” landmarks: Carnie Wilson, Dee Snider, Diana DeGarmo, Julio Iglesias Jr., Maureen McCormick, Sisqo – and lastly, the unlikely country hopeful, Bobby Brown. The cast arrives at the Nashville mansion that will be their home during these two weeks and gets to know each other. Rich Rich arrives in larger than life fashion, introduces himself to the group and joins them for a down-home southern dinner. During dinner, Rich announces that they will each have to compose an original country song with the help of Music Row’s finest songwriters and perform this song in front of a live Nashville audience. Premieres Friday, January 25 at 8:00 p.m., ET/PT

COUNTRY FRIED HOME VIDEOS (episode 11) - PREMIERE!
Comedian Bill Engvall is back with a new season of COUNTRY FRIED HOME VIDEOS, the series that shows what everyday Americans do for fun and 15 seconds of fame. CMT presents another heaping helping of hilarity with a third season of viewer-generated video moments like seeing the “female fallies” or when a ninety-year-old grandfather gets into the wrestling ring. In each 30-minute episode, the most hilarious video is awarded Engvall’s infamous “Here’s Your Sign” cash prize award. Premieres Friday, January 25 at 9:00 p.m., ET/PT

MY BIG REDNECK WEDDING (episode 3) - PREMIERE!
CMT gives a whole new meaning to “for better or for worse” in the new eight-episode series MY BIG REDNECK WEDDING. After scouring the country to find the most down-home country couples, CMT documents their journey down the aisle, as outrageous and over-the-top as it might be, in this new series. Each episode, hosted by Tom Arnold, features a different “redneck” wedding, each with its own rustic eccentricities, whether it is a four-legged best man, a romantic beer can canopy, a celebratory shotgun salute or a reception filled with mattress surfing and mud wrestling. Geneva and Kyle are 18 years-old, redneck, and in love. Deep in the Appalachian Mountains of Tennessee, this worry-free couple chose the public golf course with its busy driving range for their "chapel." Attire is camo for all the guests. A tractor brings in the bride; that is, if the groom survives his own bachelor party - a full on bottle rocket war, where the fireworks are aimed at each other! Somehow, these two are set on showing their friends and family that they’re young and fun but their marriage is the real deal, with a beautiful country-themed wedding in the great outdoors. Premieres Friday, January 25 at 9:30 p.m., ET/PT
