COUNTRY SUPERSTAR GRETCHEN WILSON REVEALS THE REAL ‘REDNECK WOMAN’ IN NEW SERIES “CMT DIARY” PREMIERING, FRIDAY MAY 25

NASHVILLE – May 9, 2007 – “You think you know, but you have no idea…” is the familiar refrain echoed by some of country’s biggest stars in CMT DIARY, an intimate, behind-the-scenes look at the moments where the script ends and real life begins, from artists’ homes and personal lives to their experiences on the road. Country superstar Gretchen Wilson is the first artist to be featured in CMT DIARY: GRETCHEN WILSON premiering Friday, May 25 at 8:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., ET/PT.

In this premiere episode, CMT DIARY: GRETCHEN WILSON, Wilson introduces her entire “redneck” family whom she employs to take care of her sprawling Nashville ranch while she’s on tour, and then travels to a small town bar where she plays an impromptu show for an unsuspecting crowd. Wilson also fulfills one of her life-long dreams as this self-taught woman who never finished high school enrolls to get her G.E.D. CMT DIARY: GRETCHEN WILSON will re-air Friday, May 25 at 11:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m., Saturday, May 26 at 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. and Sunday, May 27 at 2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. All times are ET/PT.

Gretchen Wilson exploded onto the national scene three years ago with her smash hit “Redneck Woman”. That year, Wilson took home many awards including the prestigious CMA Horizon Award, two CMT Music Awards, Top Vocalist and Best New Artist ACM awards and Best Country Female Vocalist Grammy awards. Wilson has since racked up combined album sales of well over six million units with her debut, Here for the Party, and sophomore follow-up, All Jacked Up. She recently completed her third Columbia Nashville album, One of the Boys, which hits stores May 15, 2007.

Produced in collaboration with the creator of the award-winning series MTV Diary, CMT DIARY profiles the real stories of country music’s biggest stars in their own words. Martina McBride will be featured in the second installment of the series premiering in June.
