Chesney Talks to CMT for the First Time Since Last Weekend’s Concert Injury in Columbia, S.C.
NASHVILLE – May 2, 2008 – Superstar Kenny Chesney caught up with CMT INSIDER’s Katie Cook yesterday for his first interview with CMT since last weekend’s concert in Columbia, S.C. to talk about the dramatic injury he suffered while onstage for his opening number and what moved him to go forward with the show despite devastating pain. CMT INSIDER, featuring this interview with the resilient Chesney and footage of the concert accident, premieres on Saturday, May 3 at 1:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. and encore on Sunday, May 4 at 11:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. All times are ET/PT.
“I was in shock because I knew that I was hurt, I knew I was stuck,” said Chesney. “Then I realized I was doing this in front of 45,000 people….I felt like I needed to give to the people that had come to the show and had been there all day, anticipating our first stadium show of the year.”
In addition to this interview with Chesney, CMT INSIDER was on-site last weekend at the April 26 show and interviewed Chesney exclusively backstage before his injury as he prepared for the show, where he talked about the tour and gave CMT a rare glimpse at his pre-show ritual.
