Morrison Gives Rare Interview to CMT’s Chet Flippo

NASHVILLE – April 27, 2006 – Marking Morrison’s first television concert performance in over 20 years and his first live performance in Nashville, CMT presents a groundbreaking look at his recent foray into country music with the premiere of VAN MORRISON: ONE NIGHT IN NASHVILLE at Friday, May 5 at 10-10:30 p.m. ET. Filmed in black and white at the Ryman Auditorium, Morrison sings four songs off of his current release, Pay the Devil (Lost Highway), and sits down for an exclusive interview with CMT’s Chet Flippo.

“This marks a historic evening in musical programming for CMT,” said Chet Flippo, editorial director, CMT. “To have a legendary artist and songwriter like Morrison pay homage to country music, and be able to see him perform these masterpieces on television is truly remarkable.”

Morrison lends his blues-clad voice in CMT’s VAN MORRISION: ONE NIGHT IN NASHVILLE to explore timeless country music, including his own compositions “Playhouse” and “This Has Got to Stop,” along with traditional country songs such as Webb Pierce’s version of “There Stands the Glass,” and Rodney Crowell’s “Till I Gain Control Again.”

Renowned photographer Danny Clinch shot and directed the documentary, along with producing team Lindha Narvaez and Gary Ashley. Sarah Brock serves as executive producer for CMT.

VAN MORRISON: ONE NIGHT IN NASHVILLE will be retelecast on Saturday, May 6 at 10-10:30 p.m. ET; and Sunday, May 7 at 9:30-10 a.m. ET, 5:30-6 p.m. ET and 11-11:30 p.m. ET.
