07/24/07

NASHVILLE – July 24, 2007 – In this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, aspiring artists compete for a chance to perform as Sara Evans’ opening act in the new CMT special, CMT BIG BREAK, premiering Saturday, August 4 at 9:30-10:00 p.m., ET/PT. In the half-hour special, dozens of artists audition, but only one is given the chance to take the stage before one of country music’s biggest superstars.

In Ashville, N.C. for her tour, CMT BIG BREAK follows Evans as she makes the day of two artists when she personally selects them to move on in the competition for the chance to perform on the main stage as the opening act of her show. Calling the two finalists herself, Evans informs them that they have been chosen and critiques their performances before they return for their last auditions. Both finalists are also required to bring their bands to show Evans that they are true performers. CMT BIG BREAK captures the stories of the two finalists and their struggling dreams, and follows Evans as she remembers what it was like to be in their shoes. Only able to choose one, Evans will announce the winner on stage at her concert.

RCA recording artist Sara Evans’ big break came after the release of her debut album, No Place That Far, which spawned her first #1 single by the same name. From there, she has went on to have three more #1 hits, including “Born to Fly,” “A Real Fine Place to Start” and "Suds In The Bucket" The multi-platinum artist won her first female vocalist award at the 2006 Academy of Country Music Awards. Evans has been performing at the stadium shows this summer on Kenny Chesney’s Flip Flop Summer tour. Her Greatest Hits album will be released on October 19. The first single from the album, "As If," which she co-wrote with with Hillary Lindsey and John Shanks, has been released to country radio nationwide.

CMT BIG BREAK is produced by Planet Grande Pictures. Richard Van Syckle serves as the Executive Producer for CMT.
