Band Debuts Never-Recorded Track, “The Once and Future Carpenter”
NASHVILLE – July 12, 2011 – Known for their unbridled live shows and raw harmonies, The Avett Brothers bring their unique sound to CMT.com when a new episode of CMT UNPLUGGED: THE AVETT BROTHERS debuts online Wednesday, July 13 at 9 p.m. ET at www.unplugged.CMT.com and on the Starburst® Facebook page, the exclusive sponsor for the series. The online launch of CMT UNPLUGGED: THE AVETT BROTHERS will be accompanied by a Live Viewing Party at both CMT.com and on the Starburst Facebook page where their nearly 10 million fans can watch and chat with one another.
The North Carolina singer/songwriters took the stage at CMT’s Nashville studio to perform a selection of music from their current album, I and Love and You, including “Laundry Room,” “January Wedding,” “And it Spread,” and will reveal exclusively at CMT.com their new song “The Once and Future Carpenter.” Additionally, the band will indulge viewers with a special Starburst Contradictions Track covering Roger Miller’s “Where Have All the Average People Gone.” For a sneak peek of The Avett Brothers’ “Laundry Room,” visit www.unplugged.CMT.com.
In a new sit-down interview the band gives a look inside their songwriting process and reveals their musical inspirations, including songwriting greats such as Miller and Tom T. Hall. They also share insight into their first public performances, which ranged from covering Beastie Boys to a solo as Santa Claus.
Beginning July 18, “Laundry Room” will be featured during music hours on CMT and CMT Pure, the network’s 24-hour digital music channel. CMT will promote the Unplugged performances across all of its properties including CMT, CMT.com, CMT Mobile, CMT Radio and the network’s social communities on Facebook and Twitter.
Starburst continues as the exclusive partner of “Unplugged.” The brand will be featured alongside each artist on-air and at Unplugged.CMT.com, Unplugged.MTV.com and Unplugged.VH1.com. Because Starburst is the ultimate contradiction in candy as it is solid yet juicy, the brand is especially excited to present the Contradictions Track, where each Unplugged artist performs a song that is contradictory to their normal genre of music. In addition, Starburst will tap into their passionate Facebook community of almost 10 million fans by offering them an exclusive online viewing party. During the party a chat will happen simultaneously on the Starburst Facebook page and Unplugged.CMT.com where fans will have the ability to provide thoughts and comments via their social networks and view exclusive behind-the-scenes footage.
The Avett Brothers join Mumford & Sons, Adele and Lykke Li in the 2011 roster of “Unplugged” artists.
