THIS AIN’T YOUR MAMA’S CHEERLEADING – “DALLAS COWBOYS CHEERLEADERS: MAKING THE TEAM” AND “CHEER” PREMIERE FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 7 BEGINNING AT 9 PM, ET ON CMT

08/06/12

NASHVILLE – August 6, 2012 – Friday nights heat up this Fall, as CMT goes inside the worlds of two very different kinds of cheerleading with a new season of DALLAS COWBOYS CHEERLEADERS: MAKING THE TEAM, and the series premiere of CHEER on Friday, September 7. These highly-conditioned athletes – whether vying for a world champion title or performing on the field for millions of TV viewers – prove it takes hard work and dedication to become America’s best in the business of cheerleading.

CMT kicks off its cheerleading lineup with a two-hour season premiere of DALLAS COWBOYS CHEERLEADERS: MAKING THE TEAM, now in its seventh season. The stakes are higher than ever, as the expanded 11-episode series will showcase for the first time, the girls’ friendly rivalry to earn a coveted spot in the DCC swimsuit calendar, including the calendar photo shoot in exotic Mexico. Veterans are on the line this season, as Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders Director Kelli McGonagill Finglass, Choreographer Judy Trammell and Dallas Cowboys EVP Charlotte Jones select training camp candidates from among the most talented class of young ladies in years. The series follows DCC hopefuls throughout auditions and training camp, to their first performance at the world-famous Cowboys Stadium. DALLAS COWBOYS CHEERLEADERS: MAKING THE TEAM premieres at 9:00-11:00 p.m. ET/PT on Friday, September 7.

A passion project for Executive Producers Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, CHEER goes inside the high stakes, high pressure world of competitive cheerleading with tough-as-nails coach, Patty Ann Romero. Romero’s senior team consists of 20 highly-conditioned athletes capable of jaw-dropping stunts and perfectly choreographed dance moves. When they’re not practicing in their New Jersey gym, these ordinary teenage girls must balance a grueling schedule of conditioning and competitions along with school and the pressures of everyday life. Romero dominates in the gym, but she’s like a second mother to her team and will do what it takes to make sure they succeed on the mat and in life. CHEER debuts at 11:00-midnight ET/PT on Friday, September 7, and resumes its regular timeslot at 10:00 p.m. the following week.

DALLAS COWBOYS CHEERLEADERS: MAKING THE TEAM is produced by Triage Entertainment with executive producers Stu Schreiberg, Stephen Kroopnick, Eugene Pack, Jeff Cvengros, Kelli McGonagill Finglass and Peter Zasuly. Melanie Moreau and Jayson Dinsmore are executive producers for CMT.
