VIRGIN’S DEE MC LAUGHLIN HEADS TO CMT AS SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, BRAND MARKETING
NASHVILLE – September 23, 2008 – Dee Mc Laughlin has joined CMT as Senior Vice President, Brand Marketing, it was announced today by Brian Philips, executive vice president and general manager, CMT. A nine-year veteran of Virgin Group, Mc Laughlin will relocate from Los Angeles to CMT’s headquarters in Nashville and report to Philips, effective immediately. In this newly-created position, Mc Laughlin will oversee all aspects of marketing and creative for the network with a focus on brand stewardship and strategic alignment across all CMT businesses.
“Dee has established herself as a whirlwind creative force at one of the world’s most fun, iconic brands. Logically, she’ll be a ‘natural fit’ in the CMT/MTVN family,” said Philips. “CMT’s rapid growth has created the demand for a strong, proven leader for our great teams. Dee will rock the joint.”
As vice president of marketing for Virgin, Mc Laughlin led all efforts for the store and online operations of Virgin Megastores, as well as for Virgin Entertainment Group, including product marketing, merchandising, media planning, market research and partnership strategies. She was responsible for all offline and online promotions, brand creative, advertising and media, field and event marketing, social media and online content and partnerships.
Previously at Virgin, she was senior director of marketing and director of brand marketing where she was responsible for directing the design and execution of Virgin Entertainment Group’s corporate identity. She managed all PR strategy, created integrated marketing campaigns and initiated and launched Virgin Megastore’s first customer loyalty program.
Prior to her career with Virgin, Mc Laughlin was a freelance writer and editor for such publications as Rolling Stone, Los Angeles Times, New York Times, LA Weekly and Live! Magazine. A native of Ireland, Mc Laughlin graduated from Loughborough University in England and promptly moved to Los Angeles to pursue her dream of owning a Harley and riding it down Route 66.
