11/19/07

NASHVILLE – November 19, 2007 – Known for their strong vocals and retro stylings, country powerhouse LeAnn Rimes and British soul singer Joss Stone share the stage and their musical roots in the newest episode of CMT CROSSROADS. Proving once again that great music knows no boundaries, CMT CROSSROADS: JOSS STONE AND LEANN RIMES premieres Friday, December 7 at 10:00 p.m., ET/PT on CMT and in HD Saturday, December 15 at 9:00 p.m., ET/PT on MHD.

Channeling the spirits of soulful singers twice their age, Stone and Rimes bring down the house before a studio audience in Nashville, Tenn., performing each other’s popular hits, as well as new favorites. The young talents teamed up for Stone’s hits including, "Fell in Love with a Boy" and "Super Duper Love (Are You Diggin' On Me)," as well as “Tell Me ‘Bout It” from her latest album, Introducing Joss Stone. The pair performed soul-infused versions of Rimes’ “How Do I Live” as well as her current single, "Nothin' Better to Do," and “Good Friend and a Glass of Wine” from her new album, Family. The pair paid homage to Janis Joplin with their version of “Summertime.”

Joss Stone has sold more than 8.5 million albums worldwide; been nominated for four Grammy Awards; appeared onstage with James Brown, The Rolling Stones, Stevie Wonder, Elton John, Patti Labelle, Mavis Staples, Donna Summer, and Smokey Robinson; sat for an interview with Oprah Winfrey; starred in two major ad campaigns for the Gap; and performed for more than 200,000 people at the 2005 Live 8 Concert in London - all before reaching the ripe old age of 19. With her newest album, Introducing Joss Stone, Stone feels she is truly expressing her musical vision.

Born in Jackson, Mississippi, Leann Rimes won her first talent contest at age five and at seven had recorded her first album. Rimes recorded her second album at the tender age of 11. Since that time, Rimes has won two Grammy Awards, including the first Best New Artist accolade ever won by a country artist. She has sold more than 37 million records, won an American Music Award, three Academy of Country Music honors and 12 Billboard Awards. She’s scored numerous hit singles, among them “Can’t Fight The Moonlight” which was a #1 song in 11 countries, and “How Do I Live,” which was the longest running single ever on the Billboard Hot 100. Rimes has written children books, acted in film and on television and has become a musical icon both in the U.S. and in Europe. Her new album, Family, is in stores now.
