CMT Adds Text Message Voting to Determine Video of the Year Winner
NASHVILLE – April 5, 2006 – For the first time in the history of the CMT MUSIC AWARDS, CMT launches a multi-screen initiative to bring the “mother” of all country music awards to an even larger audience. Country music fans around the world can log on to CMT.com to watch a live simulcast of the show, airing live Monday, April 10 at 8:00 p.m. ET.* In addition, CMT Radio Networks will offer the live simulcast to its 131 affiliate radio stations across the country.
Another big “first” for country music’s only fan-voted awards show is the addition of live text message voting for Video of the Year. CMT will announce the four finalists in this category live at the beginning of the show, and fans can vote throughout the live broadcast at CMT.com and via text message to pick the night’s big winner (ET/CT only). Voting is currently underway at CMT.com for the additional eight categories. America’s No. 1 country music Web site, CMT.com features a complete interactive site with up-to-the-minute news about the 2006 CMT MUSIC AWARDS, as well as video clips, photo galleries, and a streaming radio station featuring this year’s nominees.
Hosted by Jeff Foxworthy, CMT’s fifth annual awards show honors country music’s elite for the year’s most outstanding videos and is the genre’s only fan-voted awards show. The 2006 CMT MUSIC AWARDS will feature an extraordinary musical lineup, including Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Kenny Chesney, Carrie Underwood, Toby Keith, Gretchen Wilson, Keith Urban, Rascal Flatts, Sugarland, Brooks & Dunn and Trace Adkins.
